The main square of Fontenay le Comte marks one end of the main street that defines the shape of the town. On a steep slope, it extends as far as the ancient ramparts of the old town centre. The project aims to manage the different levels by controlling the slope, for both pedestrian and vehicular traffic, which is also used for the weekly market. Surfacing will be a mixture of paving, concrete, setts and stones selected to harmonize with the architecture of the town’s landmarks (Church, Museum, Town Hall). This is extended into the side streets to provide continuity.
