The Italian-style Theater (Guckkastenbühne) is still the predominant stage form today, it can be found in most of the world’s great opera houses. The machinery at work in the backstage and the changes in the sets are hidden from view of the spectator in order to preserve the illusion of production.
The performance is the culmination of several months of work – but the audience sees only the end result. As a result, the room is only open to the public for a few hours, although inside there is constant and assiduous commotion.
The concept of our proposal is based on the idea that opera reveals its secret life to urban space.
