Facing the sanctuary of the Black Madonna, the Museum of Sacred Art is spread over five levels clinging to the rock of Rocamadour. The museum recreates the history of the faith, through collections of Sacred Art, archaeological, pictorial.
The route tells the evolution of the Christian faith and the history of this place marked by pilgrimages.
The space, very vertical, unfolds around a central display case which brings together the precious objects while the historical references are arranged in counterpoint on the periphery of the rooms.
The collections are the only perceptible emitters of light that guide the visitor through the different museum sequences.
A small temporary exhibition room, on the side of the rock, completes this arrangement.
