The Louis XV Pavilion, a late extension of the former Carmel of Saint-Denis, has been rehabilitated to house the Paul Eluard collection, made up of manuscripts, drawings, objects and photos of the poet’s life.
The constraint of the development is twofold:
– Create a circuit consistent with the existing museum by setting up a glazed gallery that recreates the fourth wing of Carmel. An exhibition staircase and lift are integrated to meet safety and public reception regulations.
– Ensure the good conservation of original and fragile pieces: careful treatment of natural light is organized, as well as an original system of variable geometry display cases.
