The hotel, designed by architect Gérard Thurnauer, was built in 1990. It is an 8-storey reinforced concrete structure building on the ground floor, with a total length of approximately 135m, located between Avenue Corentin Cariou and the forecourt of the Cité des Sciences. It is broken down into three building bodies. The bow of the building is an independent third party facility.
The building combines a hotel with 259 rooms, a restaurant (Hippopotamus) and meeting spaces, as well as service rooms. The work is carried out on an occupied site.
